Court. The meeting was well attended, ant: reports were received from every department of the church’s work. The most outstanding report received was that which related to the young
people’s work. where it was shown that there It ad been an increase in every department from" Iho primary section of the Sunday School to the senior sections of the Bible Classes. During the quarter. the Womens Missionary Auxiliary was re-establish-ed and. oncer Liu- able leadership »j 1 Mrs W. J. Court, promises to be a very live institution.
. The Ladies' Guild also reported a very good commencement for the year’s work, and Mrs Hirons. the president, told the meeting of the plans: already in hand for a circuit bazaar, same time in November.
The question of preaching places was discussed, and it was unanimously decided to recommence Methodist services at Portland on the first and third Sundays in the month. It was mentioned that the church was in the fortunate position of having a very good staff of local preachers, and that the present large number of preaching’ appointments was possible only through their devoted efforts.
It was reported that the services of a student were being obtained for a month, from the middle of August, and it was unanimously decided to apply for a similar student supply for thq months from December to February. It was fell that this would pave the way for the reinstatement of the second agent in the circuit. The finances of the circuit were reviewed, and it was reported by the circuit steward that the quarter’s work had been very satisfactory, although it was hoped that the circuit finances could be put on n more assured basis. It was reported that the renovation of the inside of the Whangarei church was being arranged by the trustees, and that subscriptions to this work were being received by the secretary of the trust. Mr C. V. Stringer. The meeting closed with a helpful discussion on the more definitely spiritual side of the church work, and several matters were decided upon, among which was that of having a country people’s service once a quarter in. the Whangarei church, the service to be followed by a cup of tea and a fellowship hour. After supper had been served, the minister, Rev. H. Tozer, moved a vote of thanks to Mr and Mrs Court for the use of their home.
