Matakohe Forms Labour Branch
Over fifty attended an enthusiastic mooting in the Matakohe Hall on Friday evening when it wan decided to form a branch of the Labour Party to be known as the Western Olainatea branch. 'Hie election of officers resulted as follows; —President. Mr W. E. Roigard; vice-president, Mr E. Ha me:;: secretary. Mr C. Carry; committee. Messrs ?. Garrick. J. Deeming. A. Neil. J. Turner. H. Smith. T. Varnam, F. Scott, M. Griffin. A. Hellyn and M. Maras; social committee. Mesdames Roigard, D. Neil. D. Hay. A. H. Dallas, M. Maras, Schraffe, R. Riddle. 1. Varnam and J. Deeming. A long discussion ensued on the question of raising funds for the coming campaign and it was finally decided to leave the matter in the hands of the committee. The president and secretary were appointed delegates to the Kaipara L.R.C. At the conclusion of the business the Labour nominee for the Kaipara, Mr P. McG. Stewart, gave a short address and answered numerous questions.
