Business Affected By New Late Night
\ Special to “Northern Advocate.’’] KAITAL*. Til>;! Day.
The Saturday half-holiday at Kaitaia is not meeting with general favour, and some business men report being adversely affected. The area from which Kaitaia draws its business fs very scattered and. with the shops closing at noon, many country people have to leave home very early in order to complete their shopping. In the rush, businesses dealing with the less essential needs suffer neglect. Sc far, the people are not accepting the change to Friday for the' late night, and business people have stated that they might as well close at 5 p.m. right through the week. Unfortunately for Kaitaia. shops in A wanin' and other towns throughout the county remain open on Saturday afternoon. The county council will probably fix the county half-holiday for Saturday when it has to deal with this question, but in the meantime Awanui is in an advantageous position.
