Kara Defeats Ramblers

In the men’s B grade, Kara defeated Ramblers by 4 goals to 3 cn the former’s ground. Kara commenced at terrific pace and by half-time were leading 4—l. In the second spell, Ramblers struck form, which made the game very even, both sides playing good hockey. Ramblers' defence during the spell was consistent, and Kara was unable to register any further goals, while Ramblers netted two. The town team fought hard, and in the last 15 minutes attacked consistently, and looked like scoring on occasions. Ramblers were unlucky when a hot shot from Sloane struck the goal post and bounced out. It would be difficult to sort out any particular player for special mention, as both teams played exceptionally well and deserve credit for a good exhibition. For Kara, R. Altwood. G. Shepherd, W. McKinley and M. Shepherd scored, and A. Sloane. N. Johnson and N. Dyer netted for Ramblers.

Umpires were Messrs Patterson and Johnson.

At the conclusion of this game. Kara ladies provided afternoon tea, which was particularly appreciated in view of the bleakness ox the weather.
