Northlanders For Maori All Black Trials
The following teams are announced to take part in the Tokerau trial at Whangaroi on July 16 prior to the selection of the Maori All Black side to tour Fiji:— POSSIBLES. Full-back.—Dan Urlich (Mangonui). Three-quarters.—W. Davis (Auckland), R. Shortland (Whangaroi), K. Rika (Whangarei). Five-eighths.—R. Tahu (Whangaroa), C. Ryder (Mangonui). Half-back.—R. Heke (Whangaroa). Forwards. —B. Wordley (Northern Wairoa), J. Tikena (Whangarei), Harnett (Auckland), Sonnie and Sam Alison (Whangarei), A. Nepia (Mangenui), Nathan (Northern Wairoa), Rei Auckland). PROBABLES. Full-back.—Te Rore (Northern Wairoa).

Nominations from the various subunions in the Tokerau Land District were considered on Saturday by a selection committee comprising Messrs Harding Leaf (Hokianga, and manager of the team for Fiji). L. Davis and W. Rika (Whangarei). and L. Parore (Northern Wai'roa), together with Messrs Karl Ifwerscn (North Anckland selector), and J. Julian and D. Stewart (northern and southern zone selectors for the North Auckland Rugby Union). Nominations from the Auckland selector, Mr F. Lucas, were also received, as Auckland city is within the Tokerau Land District. Final Pick on July 20. After next Saturday’s trial, nominations will be forwarded for the final selection of the Maori All Black team, which will be made at Palmerston North on July 20. On that occasion ) Mr Harding Leaf will be representing j the Tokerau Maoris on the selection board. !
Maori players who figure in the trials will be available for the annual Auckland-North Auckland match at Eden Park on July 23.
