Mr. W. R. Baylis
OBITVART
There passed away on the Bdi insl.. at the Whangarei Public Hospital. Mr W. R. Baylis. at the ago of 57. Born at Kamo, deceased went with his parents at an early age to Hakererun, where he engaged in timber work and contracting for the mines, later taking up farming. In 1911 he married Miss Edith Carlton, of Otonga. In his younger days, he was wellknown as an athlete and footballer. About three years ago. shortly after coming to reside at Hora Hora Valley. Whangarei. the present home of the family, deceased contracted a severe illness, and. although he had been back at work for some time, ill-health overtook him again recently, and the end came with somewhat unexpected suddenness. He leaves the widow, one married daughter <Mrs O. Kenwood, of HukerenuD, one single daughter (Eleanor *. and three sons < Carlton. Barron and Donald). The eldest daughter, Molly, predeceased him six years. Mrs E. C, Rouse, of Hukerenui, Mrs S. Weston, of Devonporl. and Mrs Rex Nchil. of Kawhia. are sisters; and Mr S. Baylis, of Whananaki. and Messrs. 11. and P. Baylis. of Takapuna. are brothers of the deceased. Tiie funeral will leave Whangarei on Monday, at 11 a.m.. for the Hukcrenui cemetery.
