WhitemanFleming

A picturesque wedding of much local interest was that solemnised in the All Saints' Anglican Church, Kamo, between Miss Dorothy Margaret (Betty) Fleming, only daughter of Mr F. J. Fleming and the late Mrs Fleming, New Hebrides, and Mr Gordon Leslie Whiteman, second son of Mrs and the late Mr W. J. Whiteman, Kamo. The Rev. Harold Heaslip performed the ceremony msi Mrf

Murdock Mclnnes Diayed the organ. The church was tastefully decorated by Mrs Mclnnes and Miss Jesdo Whiteman. The bride, who entered the church on the arm of her grandfather, wore a graceful gown of ivory chiffon velvet, cut on classical lines with a very full skirt forming a train. She wore a Brussels net veil mounted on tulle, with a coronet head-dress of lilies-of-the-valley. Her bouquet was cream rosebuds, bouvardia, heather and maidenhair fern. The bridesmaids were Miss Marge Bourke and Miss Jessie Whiteman, who were dressed alike in apple green chiffon velvet with gold coronet headdresses, and carried bouquets of yellow arum lilies and maidenhair fern.

The bridegroom was attended by his two brothers, Mr Joe Whiteman and Mr Jim Whiteman as best man and groomsman respectively. Following the ceremony a reception was held at the Settlers' Hotel, where some 70 guests were received by the bride's aunt, Mrs Gordon Fleming, of Hamilton, wearing a smart tailored brown costume and furs. She was assisted by the bridegroom's mother, who wore a navy corded silk ensemble, with navy accessories. Both carried posies of autumn flowers. The bride and bridegroom left by car for the South, the bride travelling in a London tan tailored frock with bottle green accessories, and a handsome musquash fur coat, a gift from the bridegroom.
