f Special to “Northern Advocate:! AUCKLAND, This Day. With bank shares rising, the market was very active on the Auckland Stock Exchange today. There was less interest in metals, however, and a number of Australian securities were easier. E.S. and A’s led the rise in banks, selling at £5 3/-, 7/- higher than the price at the last sale in June. Commercials held yesterday’s sharp advance with further business at 16/8, while New Zealands and Unions were quoted firmer. The market for Nationals, ex-dividends, lay between £2 14/6 and £2 16/-. Insurances were a little stronger, South British having better buyers at £2 5/9. Metal shares failed to hold the advance made late yesterday, buyers for Electrolytic Zincs and Mt. Lyells reducing their offers to £2 2/- and £1 8/6 respectively.

Among miscellaneous industrials, ; Broken Hill Proprietary lost €d, but Farmers’ Trading sold at a rise of sd. Government securities showed little change from yesterday’s quotations. In the mining section, Marthas reflected their recent strengthening with a sale at a rise of 9d. Morgans were active at the higher price, but North Broken Hills were quoted easier. Sales completed at the noon call today resulted: Bank of N.S.W., (Sydney), £3l 10/-; Martha, 11/10; Dominion Breweries, £1 16/-.
