Septic Tanks Unsuitable

The question of septic tanks for the Hikurangi School was discussed by the Town Board at its meeting this week. The matter was brought to the attention of the board by a letter from the Department of Health. After the full meeting had thoroughly thrashed the matter out, the board felt that the site was unsuitable for the installing of septic tanks. Not only was the ground subject to flooding, but the soil was of a neno-porous nature. Tin's matter was discussed some years ago with the then officer of health, and the Board on Tuesday night, was of the opinion that nothing in the letter justified it altering its previous decision. It was felt that septic tanks would be a danger at the school, and consequently no action was taken.
