Cricket Test Broadcasts Start Tonight
Comprehensive arrangements have been made by the National Broadcasting Service to ensure that all those interested in cricket may receive full details of the forthcoming series of Test matches between England and Australia. These take place on the following dates: — Third Test: Friday, July 8, to Tuesday, July 12, at Old Trafford. Fourth Test: Friday, July 22, to Tuesday, July 26, at Leeds. Fifth Test: Saturday. August 20, to Friday, August 26, at the Oval. On The Air All Night. The main station in each centre and 2YC, the auxiliary in Wellington, will broadcast the first portion of play between 10 and 11 p.m. on the first days, and between 9.30 and 11 p.m. on the succeeding days. The Dominion transmitter, 2YA. will then take over a sole broadcast on the running commentaries until 5 a.m.
Subsidiary Services.—2YA will supply brief results each morning following a day's play, at 7 and 8 a.m. on week days and 9 a.m. on Sundays. The other main stations will rebroadcast these results. V7ith regard to the first Test, 2YA will carry out rebroadcasts of eye-witness accounts to be given by W. A. Oldfield from 9.35 to 9.50 a.m. on Saturday, July 9, from 9.10 to 5.20 a.m. on Sunday, and 9.5 to 9.20 on Tuesday and Wednesday. These will be recorded and the National Stations will link up later in the day and Oldfield’s observations will be repeated.
