Escape From Rotorua Lock-Up
ROTORUA. This Day. Digging a tunnel with his hands, after having lorn up some of the wooden flooring in the police cell at Rotorua, one of two men arrested in the Government tourist office at Rotorua at about 4 o'clock yesterday morning, after an unsuccessful attempt had been made to blow open a safe in the strongroom, escaped from the cells between 10 and 11 o'clock Inst night. A search was immediately instituted and is still continuing. The missing man is six fee: four
inches in height, of strong build, and has fair hair and complexion. When he escaped he was wearing brownishgrey trousers and a khaki shirt. The escaped man and another wore arrested: on charges of breaking and entering, with intent to steal. An Arrcrc, A man said to be William Edward Dales, alleged to be the; escapee, was arrested by Constable Maisey at Cambridge early this morning. He was taken from a truck in which he had asked for a lift.
