Improving Northland Tennis
Several suggestions for improving the organisation of tennis in Northland are being put forward by . the North Auckland Lawn Tennis Association. The management committee is requesting all affiliated clubs to consider three proposals in particular which, it is thought, might tend to the improvement and consolidation of tennis in the district.
It has been suggested that a junior team of at least four girls and four boys under 18 years of age tour Northland and Auckland. At the conclusion of the tour the team would have had good training for the Auckland championships. This matter is being fully investigated by a special committee, which is to report to the association’s annual meeting in September. .
The association has notified clubs of its willingness to send a professional coach on a tour through Northland. The scheme would be subsidised by the association, while the clubs would pay a portion of the expenses.
The third suggestion is in regard to the holding of the annual tournament, as it is stated that difficulty was experienced last year in appointing a committee to. control the fixture. It is suggested that all clubs co-operate in this matter, and, if possible, notify the association of members who could act on an organising committee. .
