Otamatea County Rates

At the annual meeting of the Otamatea County Council in Paparoa on Wednesday, notice of motion, was given that at the next meeting it was proposed to strike the following rates for the. ensuing year. Last year s rate is given in parenthesis and the amount available for the, year’s worn in each riding based on the proposed rate-is also shown. ' Mareretu, 4gd (4gd), £402; Paparoa, 4|d (4§d), £308; Wairau, 4-|d> (4*d), £1072; Whakapirau. 3|d (3|d), £536; Tokatoka, 4id (4Jd), £331;. Ruawai. 3gd (Sid), £319; Matakohe, 33d (33d), £630; Kaiwaka, 4gd (4gd), £621. The hospital levy, at £3750, will absorb 100 per cent of a rate of 1 l-16d of the general, rate. The reserve £2500, general expenses £ISOO, and bridges £SOO, will- absorb a rate ,of 1 5-16 d. Thus a total rate of 2gd' is absorbed before anything is allowed fc<r road works.
