Lost Clubs: What Penalty ?
A golfer is allowed the maximum of five minutes to search for a lost ball, and incurs a penalty for losing his ball. How long is he allowed to look for a lost club, and how many strokes should he be fined?
The Royal and Ancient has not, as far as is known, delivered a ruling on that question. However, a case in point occurred at the ML Donby links during the North Auckland Golf Tournament yesterday. A left-handed player, with cold and slippery hands, swung at his ball on the last tee, and looked up to see-his club sailing into the gorse, tea-tree and scrub which line the fairway. The search lasted while several groups went through, but so far the club has not come to light.
Mad music, shrieks from dusk to dawn, Like rasping groans where logs are sawn, While gasping patients craving sloop In anguish bow their heads and weep. Mad music on the midnight air Derides the moanings of despair. Where sufferers strive to ease assure With:, soothing Woods’ Great Peppermint Cure. 4
