Excellent Clearance At Kamo Sale
Walter Wakclin reports having held his usual, weekly sale at Kamo on Wednesday when an extra large entry of all classes was submitted to a large attendance of buyers, including a good sprinkling from the South.
An entry of 200 dairy heifers on account of Mr R. <L Hailes, sold exceptionally well. The condition of these cattle was only fair, but, however. a total clearance resulted. The yarding comprised 400 dairy cattle, 150 beef and stores, 500 pigs, including 40 pedigree pigs. Following is a full range of prices;
Fat cows and heifers. £5 10/- to £7 5/-: 3i-year stores, £7 15/- to £8 5/-; yearling Shorthorn steers, to £4 5/-; Jersey heifer calves. £1 2/6 to £2 15/-: cows and runners, £4 to £6; boner cows, £1 10/- to £3 12/-; boner bulls. £4 to £6 10/-; best dairy Cows and heifers, close to profit, £6 7/6 to £9 5/-; best-in-calf Jersey heifers. £5 10/- lo £7 10/-; medium, £4 10/ to £5 10/-; small. £3 15/- to £4 10/-; Shorthorn heifers, r.w.b., £4 10/- to £5 10/-; Shorthorn dairy cows, lo £5 15/-; Holstein dairy cows, £4 15/- to £6 10/-; backward and inferior cows and heifers, £2 10/- to £4.
Fig Section.—ln our pig section upwards of 300 fat pigs and 150 store and weancr pigs were yarded along with the advertised pedigree pigs on account of local breeders. Competition for pedigree boars and sows was keen throughout and some good sales were effected. In the fat pig section only a few baconers were yarded and prices for these firmed in recent sales. Porkers sold on a par with late rates. Store and weaner pigs showed a slight increase in values and .a total clearance in this section resulted. Buyers operated freely and in most cases vendors were meeting the market. We quote;— Best baconers. £3 8/- to £3 11/; medium baconers, £3 3/- to £3 7/-; light baconers, £2 18/- to £3 2/-; heavy porkers, £2 13/- to £2 18/-; medium porkers, £2 5/- to £2 11/-; light porkers, £1 13/- to £1 19/-; small and unfinished, £1 6/- to £1 10/-; large stores. £1 7/- to £1 11/-; choppers. £3 to £3 5/-; slips, 12/6 to 15/6; best wcaners. 7/- to 9/-; small wenners. 4 - to 6/6. Berkshire sows to farrow, to 9 guineas; Berkshire boars, 31 to 51 gns; Tamworth sows, 31 gns to 54 gns;, Tamworth boars, 31 lo 5, gns; aged pedigree sows, 24 .to 31- gns.
