Will Advertise For Doctor In Sydney

Possible difficulty in securing the services of a suitably qualified person in New Zealand, led the Whangarei Hospital Board at its monthly meeting this morning to decide to seek applications from Sydney, as well as the Dominion for the position of assistant medical superintendent to the Whangarei Public Hospital. A new appointment has been rendered necessary by the resignation of Dr. Gertrude L. Galliers. The chairman, Mr J. A. S. Mac Kay, was in favour of the board advertising the position in each of the four New Zealand centres. "If there is going to be a shortage we should also call applications from Sydney,” suggested Mrs V. Donaldson. “It might save a good deal of time.” The chairman agreed that from the difficulty with which the board was faced in filling the position some time ago it appeared that it might not be possible to secure a suitable doctor in New Zealand. The board decided accordingly.
