Rain Spoils Feilding Meeting

Heavy rain, which lasted practically the whole day, spoiled the first day of the Feilding Jockey Club’s Easter meeting. Both the attendance and the totalisator investments were heavily affected, the total betting being £18,173, compared with £27,250 10/ for the first day last year, a decrease of £9077 10/. Toward the end of the day the course and grounds became a quagmire. Concluding results:—

Halcombe Handicap, of 220 sovs.; seven furlongs.—(l) Old Surrey, 8,0, 1; Roaming, car. 8.7, 2; (4) Matoru, 7.3, 3. Scr.; The Bigot, Davistock, Lickern. Three lengths; one length. Time; 1.33.
