The Autumn meeting of the Canterbury Jockey Club was opened to-day. The track was soft, but the weather was fine. There was a large attendance. Results: — Kildare Handicap Hurdles, of 300 sovs.; I,;' miles.—(6-8) Courtyard, 9.0, 1; (4-4) Flashlight, 9.0, 2; (1-1) Grampian, 9.11, 3. Scr.: Silver Sight. Three lengths; four lengths. Time: 3.23. Champagne Stakes, of 500 sovs.; two-year-olds; six furlongs.— (1) Defaulter, 8.10, 1; (2) Good Passage, 8.8, 2; Fassaform. 8.10, 3. Scr.: Scuffle. Length and a-half; a length. Time: 1.15 2-5.
Courtenay Handicap, of 250 sovs,; six furlongs.— (1-3) Strip, 8.3, 1; (3-2) Lady Leigh, 8.12, 2; (2-1) Ghillie, 8.3, 3. All started. Lady Leigh was coupled with Knight Commander.
