REARING 'a pane of glass at the
back of the premises, thieves entered the offices of Turners and Fow, produce merchants, of Hamilton, last night. They blew open the safe and removed over £4O and a large number of important documents.
fpHE question of waterfront delays was considered by the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce, which passed a resolution, that the chamber supports the Associated Chambers in their request for a suitable commission to be empowered with all the rights land full terms of reference required.
TN order to overcome repeated congestion at the Auckland wharves, ships which take an unreasonably long time to discharge might in future find themselves berthed at Western Wharf. This recommendation was contained in a- report placed before the board at a meeting yesterday. The report was specially brought forward in view of recent congestion. Some ships, the report stated, had a condition in their charter setting out the maximum quantity which could be discharged per day. Such ships would have to go to Western Wharf if other vessels were waiting to use the city wharves. It was considered that if visiting vessels were to use the port facilities indifferently, it was not unreasonable to put them to the additional cost and inconvenience involved by being berthed at Western Wharf,
