The Wellington boat Kitty, scored her second win in the Sanders Cup contest this morning, winning the race over a triangular course by 1m 21s from Monihi, the Canterbury boat, with Eileen third, 3m 54s later. The story of an ingenious ruse for defrauding the patrons of country shows was told in the Palmerston North Police Court this morning when Maurice O'Connor, labourer, aged 32, of Invercargill, was charged with unlawfully impersonating a member of the Police Force at the Mar ton show on Wednesday. He was also charged with the theft of £3 from Blanville William Muir, at Marton on the same day. O’Connor, who pleaded guilty to both charges, was fined £5 for impersonation, in default one month, and received three months’ hard labour for the theft.
