NEW KAITAIA GROUND IN USE
CRICKET
r lhc first match in the second round of the Mangonui Cricket Association’s competition was played at Kaitaia on Saturday, when the Kaitaia team gained a victory over the Mangatarire team by nine wickets and four runs 'n a completed game. The match was the first to be played on the new grounds in Sum-ay Park, and. after the luncheon adjournment, Mr Roy Kelly, president of the Kaitaia Club,
welcomed the visiting team and all cricket enthusiasts, and expressed appreciation of the work done by some c f the members of the local club in laying down the new pitch, specially mentioning Mr A. IT Stanton, who was accorded the honour of delivering the first official ball.
The Kaitaia Club was congratulated for its sporting enterprise by Mr Switzer, who acknowledged the welcome to the visiting team. Kaitaia, ho said, would be the future centi-e of cricket in the county. Kaitaia won the toss, and sent the visitors to the wicket. Following are the scores: —
