2209 Refugees Die In One Day

(Received 2.30 p.m.) LONDON, January 10.

“The Times” Shanghai correspondent states that 2209 refugees died in the International Settlement yesterday as the result of cold and starvation.

Five people out of 14, who were sleeping in a room 14ft. by 6ft,, were asphxiated while asleep. The survivors were admitted to hospital.
