Macartney’s sixteen, published in the “Sydney Morning Herald” today are;— D. G. Bradman (South Australia). S. J. McCabe (N.S.W.). W. J. O’Reilly (N.S.W.). J. H. Fingleton (N.S.W.). C. L. Badeock (South Australia). L. O’B. Fleetwood-Smith (Victoria). W. A. S. Oldfield (N.S.W.). R. G. Gregory (Victoria). A. G. Chipperfleld (N.S.W.). E. L. McCormick (Victoria). H. Cotton (South Australia). D. Tallon (Queensland). C. V. Grimmett (South Australia).
E. S. White (N.S.W.). V. Jackson (N.S.W.). R. H. Robinson (South Australia). Macartney remarks that the selectors’ task will be more difficult than ever, owing to so many young batsmen of quality offering. The first seven men on the list he regards as “certainties”—they pick themselves!
