VANDALS CUT OFF WATER SUPPLY AT TAIHAPE

[Per Press Association. Copyright.] TAIHAPE. This Day. Vandalism resulted in the borough water supply being cut off for some time yesterday morning. The valves on the pipe lino from the works at Ngauvukehu to the reservoir at Taihape had been tampered with by some unknown persons. The borough foreman slated that a compensating valve had been screwed down so far that a terrific back pressure had been caused between this locality and the head works, causing the stoppage of (he water supply to Ike reservoirs.

The reservoir was practically empty at eight o’clock on Sunday morning. H has a capacity of 650.00 ft gallons. By !1 o'clock on Sunday the borough foreman, with his staff, had the matter well in hand, and water was commencing to run into the reservoir.
