CEYLON JOINS EMPIRE AIR MAIL SCHEME
Negotiations for Ceylon’s participation in the Empire air mail scheme have been settled. Ceylon will benefit by considerable reduction in payments to be made.
It has been decided that Ceylon should pay a proportionate part of the subsidy to Imperial Airways, and the postal contribution to the British Post Office from the date on which all first-class mall to Ceylon is carried by air up to the dale of the completed air mail scheme.
This scheme, as approved by the State Council, ’will necessitate paying a subsidy of £SOOO per year and a mail payment of £11.500. These would cover the whole service from London out to Australia.
