Auckland City Roll Purged Of 14,000 Names
[Special To “Northern Advocate” J AUCKLAND, This Day.
No fewer than 14,000 names have been recently struck off the Auckland city electoral rolls as a result of tho purging process carried out in preparation for the next municipal polls. Prior to the purging the roll included 60,638 names. Of these 18,956 were listed as ratepayers in their own right and 7198 were the husbands or wives of ratepayers. A further 129 were enrolled as freeholders, 33,485 had the residential qualification, and the remaining 920 made up a small group, listed as the occupiers of rooms in the city whose homes were in outer suburban districts.
The next step to be taken is the publication of the roll, now reduced to 44,500 names.
