Bates, of Christchurch, are visiting Whangarei and are the guests of Mrs Ewart Bates, Mercer Street. £ ❖ # * Miss Glen Ibbertson returned to Point Chevalier today after spending an enjoyable fortnight’s holiday as the guest of Miss A. Kokich. *.t * * * Mrs R. L. Brunton, Hamilton, and Mrs A. E. Pearce, St. Clair. Dunedin, are spending a camping holiday with Mrs A. N. Weaver, of Nixon Street, at Ngahau Bay. * * * * Miss Betty Barber, a pupil of Miss Thora Warrington, was successful in winning the North Island Championship Sword Dance under 16, at the Wajpu Caledonian Sports. Another of the weekly dances at Kamo Springs was held on Wednesday evening and again proved most successful. Patrons took full advantage of the use of the swimming baths, a welcome feature in the present hot spell. Ces. Wright’s Band provided the music for dancing, and supper was served during the evening. The Monte Carlo was won by Miss Smith and partner.
Mrs A. C. Stewart, Mrs Rolfe-Smith, Miss B. G. Davies and Mr Allan RolfeSmith returned last Tuesday from a 10 days’ motor tour, via Auckland, Tauranga, Rotorua and Te Aroha. A call was also made at Arapuni, where they were shown round the powerhouse. At Te Aroha, the party stayed with Mrs Louie Jones, of Warakau Estate (a cousin of Mrs Rolfe-Smith). Except for one half-day, fine weather was enjoyed throughout the trip.
