PLOT AGAINST STALIN’S LIFE UNEARTHED

(Received 10 a.m.) LONDON, January 6. The Riga correspondent of the ‘“Daily Mail” says a large number of arrests followed the discovery of new conspiracies against the lives of Stalin' and Yezhoff; Several of the higher officers in the Moscow’ Garrison are accused of planning to shoot Stalin at the approaching festivities to celebrate t the anniversary of the organisation of the Red Army. Others are charged with planning to assassinate Yezhoff on his inspection tour of the garrisons in the Moscow Province. According to a Moscow report, the second group is considered to be the more dangerous, since it obtained a large supply of cartridges and hand grenades from a local arsenal for use in a mutiny against Yezhoffs Ogpu troops. The new plot resulted from the appointment of Yezhoff’ as CommissarGeneral, entitling him to wear a marshal’s star.
