KING TO BE PATRON OF CENTENARY SHOW
!Special To “Northern Advocate"l WELLINGTON, This Day. It has been announced by the Prime Minister, the Rt. Hon. M. J. Savage, 'hat advice has been received that His Majesty the King has consented to become the Royal Patron of the Now Zealand Centennial Exhibition. It was also stated that Hir Majesty cxuvwod the hope that the undertaking would bo a sroat success. Thh exhibition will open in November. 1939. and will be one of the most outstanding features of the Centennial celebrations in the Dominion. Progress has been made in the setting up of committees and the organisation is well advanced. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Industries and Commerce, has convened meetings of the permanent Government Department heads with the object of co-ordinating their activities in providing displays for the Government Pavilion. One of the most attractive features of the exhibition will probably be the engagement of a famous British military band, arrangements for which are being made with the British War Office.
