Cricket In Whangarei

(To the Editor)

Sir,—The match with the Auckland visiting team, which 1 umpired with Mr E. L. Whimp, showed graphically the sporting motives of the visiting team, as compared with the local team. None of the Whangarei Senior B representatives, barring myself on crutches, were at the station to give the Auckland boys a send-off. I would like to know where was the official committee of the Whangarei team from the time of the arrival of the Aucklanders until their departure. With the exception of Mr Whimp, who made a short speech on the ground which was much appreciated by both teams, no other officials were present to augment his remarks, i Incidentally I would challenge the | Whangarei sole selector and his comi mittee to pick two teams, and I declare I could choose a better eleycn from remaining players available. As an off-side umpire, I herewith sign my name. J. W. ADAMSON, j Whangarei. December 31.
