WRESTLERS AT SILVER WEDDING
Quite a unique silver wedding celebration was that of Mr and Mrs W. Auguer, of Maungatapere, whose anniversary fell on Friday of last week. Mr and Mrs Auguer were definitely “at home” to their many guests, who were entertained at the model farm which the couple have carved out themselves from a waste of fern and stone. \
On the night prior to the festivities, !27 guests were accommodate at the homestead. Several tents had been erected, together with a large marquee, which, on the Friday, was put to unique use for such an occasion. { Among the visitors were a party of j relatives from Wellington, who are closely associated with the Kilbirnie 1 Athletic Club, and they brought with I them a team of young wrestlers. In the marquee, a proper mat was laid down and a ring erected, j in which the grapplers, including several provincial champions, gave an exhibition.
Sixty were seated at dinner at which piece de insistence was a three-decker cake, made by Mrs Auguer and decorated by her husband, who has a considerable talent in this direction.
