Dyer, of the Palmerston North Courthouse staff, has arrived in Whangarei, where he will replace Mr W. O. Hawke on the staff of the local courthouse. Mr W. Mr Hugh Poland, who represented the old Ohinemuri electorate in Parliament for 20 years, has died at Paeroa. He was born at Tuakau in 1868, and was educated at the Auckland Grammar School. From 1886 to 1890 he was teaching at the same school. Mr Poland went to Paeroa to live, and was elected a member of the Ohinexnuri County Council in 1898. He v/as chairman from 1901 to 1905. He was first elected for the Ohinemuri seat in 1905. The electorate is now merged in Thames,
