TARANAKI J.C: CLIFFORD SUSPENDED FOR FORTNIGHT

The Taranaki Jockey Club’s meeting v/as concluded yesterday in fine weather and before a large attendance. The totalisator handled £18,949 10/, an increase of £6168 on the second day last year. The total for the meeting was £43,866, against £33,222 10/ last year, an increase of £10,643 10/-.
Senacre fell at the finish of the Warea Hack Stakes, and the rider, N. R. McKenzie, received a broken collarbone. An inquiry was held by the stewards, who found that L. H. Clifford, rider of the winner, Flashing Spear, finished carelessly and contributed, to the mishap. Clifford was suspended for a fortnight. Concluding results:—
Atiawa Hack Cup, of 250 sovs.; nine furlongs.—(l-1) Grand City, 8.8, 1; (6-7) Student Prince, 7.4, 2; (2-4) Gay Sister, 7.9, 3. Ten other starters. A short neck; three-quarters of a length. Time: 1.55 2-5.
New Plymouth Handicap, of 225 sovs.; nine furlongs.—(l-1) Sergia, 8.3, 1; (7-7) Onewhetu, 8.5, 2; (4-3) Orac, 7.4 (car. 7.0), 3. Four other starters. A neck; length and a-half. Time: 1.55. Warea Hack Stakes, of 125 sovs.; six furlongs.—(3-3) Flashing Spear, 8.3, 1; (5-5) Lifeguard, 9.3, 2; (4-4) Shangri La, 8.3, 3. Four other starters. A neck each way. Time; 1.15 4-5. Summer Hack Handicap, of 160 sovs.; six furlongs.—(4-4) Hutana, 7.12, 1; (1-1) Silvanus, 8.0 (car. 7.7), 2; (5-5) Advance Plane, 7.5 (car. 7.8), 3. Three other starters. Half a length; a neck. Time: 1.15.
