EVENING SERIES ARE POPULAR

Bowls

The increasing popularity of evening bowling tourneys under electric light was evidenced by the large attendance of contestants at the Wlrangarei Bowling Club’s green last night when, for the first time this season, a full ring tourney was conducted. Visiting rinks were present from Waipu, Kensington and Hikurangi.

Two hours were taken for the first round, and 20 minutes for each subsequent round. In the final; a Whangarci rink comprising H. Beehre, Donald McLeod, W. J. Brydon and D. X. McLeod met and defeated a Waipu rink represented by C. Atkinson, J. Durham, R. Rimmer and A. Hill, the final score reading 4 —2 in favour of Whangarei. / 1
