Eight Lives Lost; 15 People Injured In Christmas Smashes
piGHT PEOPLE WERE KILLED AND FIFTEEN WERE INJURED IN J CHRISTMAS WEEK-END ROAD SMASHES THROUGHOUT IHE DOMINION.
Despite the large volume of traffic on Northland roads, only one serious accident has been reported in this area. A Kaikohe resident was injured when two cars collided on the road to Auckland.

DEATH OF BOY WHEN CAR AND CYCLE COLLIDE
[Special To “Northern Advocate".'] AUCKLAND. This Day, A schoolboy was killed and his brother seriously injured, when the bicycle on which they were riding cnl- ; lided with a motor car at an intersection in Shelley Beach Road. Heime Bay. last evening. Killed. Ronald Benjamin, aged 14, who died ten minutes after the accident, shortly after his admission to hospital. Injured. Noel Benjamin, aged 10. who suffered severe concussion, a fractured left leg and the loss of a finger. The boys arc the younger sons of Mr and Mi’s Charles Benjamin, of 332 Ponsonby Road, Ponsonby. The car, driven by Mr E. W. Coyle, was proceeding along Shelley* Beach Road. It had just turned a corner when the boys, who wore riding down (he road to the beach, collided with the left headlamp of (lie car. Ronald was thrown over the engine on to the road, while his brother foil beneath the bumper bar.
