Plumbers’, Gas Fitters’ Award Provisions

[Special To “Northern Advocate"] AUCKLAND, This Day.

A 40-hour five-day week and a mini-, mum wage of 2/9 an hour were provided for under a new Dominion (except Nelson) plumbers’ and gas fitters’ award, filed by the First Arbitration Court.

Men engaged on shop repair work will be required to observe a 44-hour week with work on Saturday morning.

To remain in force for a year from December 20. the award fixes the overtime rates at time and a half for the first four hours, and double-time thereafter. Work done after 10 p.m. (5 p.m. on Saturdays) must be paid for at double rates.
