PLOT AGAINST LIFE OF M. DELBOS

LONDON. December 12
The Lille correspondent of the “Daily Telegraph” says the police take a most serious view of a plot against M. Delbos, which in many respects appears to have been drafted on similar lines to the assassination of E£ing Alexander in 1934.
A Hungarian named Kalman Budai has been arrested at Valenciennes. The police believe the attempt was to have been carried out on the occasion of M. Delfcos’ visit to Prague, The Valenciennes police are in possession of a secret code addressed to Budai from a terrorist organisation, and also letters, the decoding of which revealed the plot.
Attack In Prague Or Budapest!
“If you have sufficient food (which, interpreted, means funds) I will go after Delbos straight away,” was the phrase in a cypher letter addressed to Budai by a former member of the French Foreign Legion, Havel Abdel Kader, the man arrested at Prague. The letter asked whether M. Delbos should be attacked in Prague or Budapest.
Budai told the examining magistrate at Valenciennes that he was arrested on November 6 and, accordingly, was not aware of M. Delbos’ movements. He had been unable to communicate with any terrorist organisation. Arrested In 1934. Budai has been charged with “association with wrong-doers in connection with a plot to murder M. Delbos in Bucharest or Prague.” He was in-rested in October. 1934, in connection with the murder of King Alexander, but no definite evidence was brought against him. He was then expelled from France. It is understood the seized letters revealed that M. Le Beau, governor of Algeria, was also marked down bv the gang as a victim. ,
