PERSONAL

The Rev. and Mrs H. T. Steele and Miss D. Steele arrived at New Plymouth yesterday, and will reach Whangarei on Friday. Messrs H. C. McCormick and A. C. Kitto, both of Wellington, have been elected manager and assistant-manager respectively of the New Zealand team for the British Empire Games at Sydney in February. Mrs E. G, Sutherland, also of Wellington, was elected chaperone.—(P.A.). The Governor-General, Viscount Galway, and Viscountess Galway, who are in residence at Government House, Auckland, were present on Saturday afternoon at the opening of the Methodist Central Mission Health Camp at Campbell’s Bay. The camp was officially opened by His Excellency.

The Rt. Hon. J. G. Coates arrived in Auckland from Wellington by train on Saturday morning, and in the afternoon spoke at a garden party of the National Party, held at the residence of Mr and Mrs A. M. Ferguson. Victoria Avenue. Yesterday Mr Coates went North to his home at Matakohe.
