Farewell To Mr and Mrs S. Burford
Last Saturday evening a few friends assembled to farewell Mr and Mrs S. Eurford, who are leaving Whangarei to make their future abode in Thames.
In expressing the regret of those present at the loss of such valued friends, Mrs J. Ffye. on behalf of the ladies, asked Mrs Burford to accept, as a token of their friendship and good wishes, an electric toaster.
Mrs A. J. Ching then presented the guest with a bouquet. On behalf of the gentlemen, short speeches were made by Rev. W. Elliott and Mr Ching. Mr and Mrs Burford made suitable responses. An enjoyable programme was presented by Mesdaracs A’Court and Rive, who played pianoforte solos and duets; Mesdames Fry and Quayle, who sang, and Mr A Court, who gave humorous readings. Community singing was also enjoyed. Amongst those present wore Mesdames S. Burford, I. Brown, A. J. Ching, Dennis, Dunlop, W. Elliott, E. Fry, J. Fyfc, P. Hargreaves, D. McLennan, Quayle, A. O. Steventon, A. Weaver, and Miss Littlejohn. Supper was served by the ladies.
