CHRISTMAS ALLOCATION OF ART UNION PROFITS

A special Christmas allocation of art I union surplus profits is being made by | the Government to a number of insti- | lutions in the Dominion doing philanthropic work. The names of the bodies in the Auckland Province whose work will benefit in the distribution of funds, which total £9400, and the amount allocated to each body, are:— Society for the Protection of Women and Children, £150; Auckland City Mission. £150; Open Door Mission, £100; Auckland Institute for the Care of Backward Children, £100; Red Cross Society, £150; Auckland Sailors’ Home. £ 150; Discharged Prisoners’ Aid Society, £100; Auckland Hospital Auxiliary, General Purposes, £75; Mental Hospital work, £75. Sunshine Haven Campaign, £100; Waihi Miners’ Pensioners’ Association, £75; Ladies’ Benevolent Society, £200; Watersiders’ and Seamen’s Hospital Comforts Fund, £SO; St. Joseph’s Home, £250; Jewish Benevolent Society, £100; Flying Angel Mission to 1 Seamen, £100; Adult Deaf Society. £150; Metropolitan Ciiy Relief Comrnitloe, £150: Thames Minors’ Pensioners’ Association, £75; Seventh Day Adventist Welfare League and Dorcas Society, £SO; Henry Brett Memorial Home. £250.
Special relief not otherwise provided for; Thames, £75.
The Minister said the special allocation now made was quite apart from the usual £SCOG paid from the profit of each £SOOO alluvial gold art union conducted in New Zealand to mayoral relief funds.
