When a London-bound airliner crashed into a factory chimney near Ostend on November 17, twelve lives were lost, and one of Germany’s oldest Royal families was almost wiped out. The victims included the Grand Duke Georg of Hesse, his wife, his mother (the Grand Duchess), and his two sons. The picture shows the shattered factory chimney with the wing of the wrecked plane on the right.
