SECOND-GRADE PAT BUTTER PRICE TO GO UP

;Per Press Association.—-Copyright.]

WELLINGTON. This Day

The price of second grade pat butter throughout New Zealand, as from December 30. is to be 1/2.', wholesale. The alteration is announced in an Order-in-Council contained in last night’s Gazette. In ail other respects the price of butter for the local trade remains the same.

It is stated that, owing to the greater manufacturing efficiency of the industry, coupled with the dry season experienced. second grade butter has diminished to a point where factories arc finding it difficult to supply the consumer demand for this commodity—thus the necessity of narrowing the margin between the first and second grades.

It is also staled that the order will in no way elfect the consumer's cost of standard brands of first grade quality.
