CLIPPER DUE EARLY IN DECEMBER
[Special To “Northern Advocate ”l AUCKLAND. Tills Day.
Original plans for the long-range survey Clipper of Pan-American Airways to make a second flight to Auckland in the first week in December remain unchanged, no advice of an alteration having yet been received by the company’s representative in New Zealand. Preparations are being made to receive the Clipper in Auckland at an early date, though the day of her departure from either Alameda or Honolulu has not yet been announced. While work has been proceeding in Auckland, a small staff has been busy at Russell. The radio station has been completed, and is now ready to receive the specially-made set which arrived from the United States by the Monterey on Friday. As soon as the necessary formalities have been completed, the equipment will be taken north and installed. It comprises the powerful shortwave receivers and transmitters which will be, used to guide the Clippers over the last ocean section of their route from Pago Pago to New Zealand.
