ST. JOHN AMBULANCE DIVISIONS INSPECTED

On Saturday last the Ladies’ Nursing Division and the Y.M.C.A. Ambulance Divisions of the St. John Ambulance Brigade (Overseas), assembled at the station for their anf nual inspection. In the unavoidable absence of Chief Commissioner Barclay and Commissioner Tunks, the inspection was Carried out by District-Officer S. H. Ward.

Seven officers and 60 other ranks appeared on parade and the inspecting officer expressed his gratification at the good muster and tendered Colonel Barclay’s apologies for his absence and expressed the colonel’s good wishes for the welfare and future progress of the local units of the brigade. Tribute to Members of Division.

After the inspection, the divisions adjourned to the Commercial Cafe where a very enjoyable evening was spent. A small toast list was honoured and was interspersed with community singing. District-Officer Dr. S. H. Ward, who occupied the chair, paid tribute to members of the divisions for the manner in which they had carried out their duties during the year and for the high standard of efficiency attained. He stressed the fact to the members of the cadet divisions that the work of the Order demanded great sacrifices in time and service without any visible recompense, but fhat the very joy of rendering trained assistance to the sick and injured was its own reward.

The inspecting officer also tendered his thanks to all who had assisted the divisions in their work during the

past year

Untiring Devotion to Division. Sergeant S. E. Lowe, in proposing the health of District-Officer S. H. Ward, thanked him for his untiring devotion to the division.

Dr. Ward, replying, stressed the fact that any success which attended his efforts was due to the co-operation accorded him by the personnel of the Division, and thanked the Division for Us renewed confidence.
