[Special To “Northern Advocate”l OPOTIKI, This Day.
Opotiki's oldest resident, Mr Valentine Savage. has just celebrated his 95th birthday. Ho was born at the Wade, now known as Silverdale, and learned the boat-building trade in Auckland He built a number of boats at Whakatanc and Opotiki, not retiring until be was nearly 90 years of age A few years ago be went to live on bis estate at Hawai. to the cast of Opotiki.
