Claymore High And Dry

With her nose pointing towards the mangroves, the Northern S.'S.' Company’s Claymore at low tide to-day was high and dry on a mud bank practically opposite Port Whangarei wharf. This morning a fog enveloped Whangarei, and at about 5 aim. the mishap occurred. The bank is soft and, as far as could be ascertained, no damage, was done.

A proportion of the cargo is being removed by barge, and with its load lightened, it is hoped the vessel will be able to pull clear under her own power when the tide is full at about 5 o’clock this afternoon.
