LOCHORE MEMORIAL TO BE DEDICATED

The dedication of a memorial to the late Rev. G. W. Lochore will take place at the morning service tomorrow at the Whangarei Presbyterian Church of which Mr Lochore was the beloved minister from 1918 until the time of his death in 1929. Members of the family, who arrived by the express today in order to be present, included Misses B. and M Lochore. sisters of deceased, who with Mr D. W. Lochore, the only son will be guests of Rev. and Mrs W. Elliott at the Manse. a

Miss Jean Lochore will be the guest of Mrs S. B. Dunn, Wallace Street, and Miss Shirley Lochore, of Mrs H. N. Geissler, Apirana Avenue. The third daughter, Miss Marie Lochore, who is resident in Wellington, has written regretting her inability to attend. At the dedication service tomorrow Mr Don Lochore will read from the Lectern, which, with a Bible, will be placed in the Church as a memorial, a chapter that was a special favourite of his father’s. Book marks, embroidered with the Church motto by members of the Lochore family, will be put in the Bible.

The Lectern was given by the congregation, and the silver plate upon it by members of the Lochore family, while the handsomely embroidered cushion was made by Mrs R. Tudehope, a very sincere friend of the late Mrs Lochore.

A flower stand, presented by another friend of Mrs Lochore. will also be dedicated in memory of the late minister’s wife.
