Mrs A. H. Goodwin, of Kara, has returned after six months' absence in Melbourne.
Mrs C. Waite, Ponsontay. is the guest for a few weeks of Mrs Marsdcn Woods. Nixon Street.
Mrs Andrews, of Powhiri Avenue, left by the express for a six weeks’ holiday, at Rotorua, Auckland and Orewa House.
Mesdames W. Elliott, A. McPhoe. G. Sharman and Miss Killen, have returned from Auckland after attending the annual conference of the P.W.M.U., held in conjunction with the General Assembly.
Miss I. A. Johnston, matron of the Northern Wairoa Hospital, Te Kopuru, and Mrs Marsden Woods left on Wednesday as delegates of the Northland branch of the N.Z.R.N. Association at a conference at Wellington.
On Thursday evening many friends of Mr and Mrs J. Skow gathered at the Nok Nok Inn, where Mrs J. Reynolds and her helpers had arranged a successful farewell .social. SergeantMajor Andrews, always' in demand as M.C.. capably filled the position, and during the evening and on behalf of those -present, asked Mr and Mrs Skow to accept a gift—a beautiful crystal cocktail set as a token of good-fellow-ship, and best wishes for future success and prosperity. Mr Skow returned thanks. Mrs Skow was also presented with a bouquet. Musical items were given by Mrs Ray Stevenson and Mr S. Simons, and a delicious supper was served during the evening. Those present were Mr and Mrs J. Skow, R. Stevenson, Munn, A. Sergeant, G. Andrews, R. Andrews, M. Connell, L. Nisbet, A. Barriball. C. Hellicr, J. Mason, J. Neale. L. Massey, Connan, Booth, Wickens, S. Simons, H. Horner, Bailey, Adams, Mesdames McMahon, J. Reynolds, N. Smith, R. Goodison, K. Carter, Flux, Misses Whitmore, Davis and Kelly, Messrs S. Reed, Colmore-Williams, Walder and S. McKenzie.
