NEW ZEALANDERS IN FOUR INTERNATIONAL TESTS TODAY
ATEW ZEALAND REPRESENTATIVES TODAY ARE TAKING PART IN FOUR INTERNATIONAL TEST MATCHES.
Paramount interest centres in the first Rugby test between the Springboks and the All Blacks at Wellington. This is the first ,of three tests between the two countries, which, up to the present, have shared honours on the Rugby field. At Auckland, Leaguers will see the second test match between the Kangaroos and the Kiwis. In the first test the Australians won, but they went down to the Maori All Blacks on Wednesday. In today’ match the Tasman Cup is at stake. A win or a draw will give the visitors the trophy, but if New Zealand win each country will hold the cup for six months. In Australia, the New Zealand hockey representatives meet Australia, the match being the eight of the series between the two Dominions. Australia, so far, has not won the “Bert” Manning Cup, and of the eight matcher played since 1922 New Zealand have won seven and drawn ore.
Cricketers have their attention focussed on the Oval. London, where the New Zealand representatives play their final test match against England. English critics expect the match to bo drawn, as was the case in the first test. Scores in the first and second tests were: —
At Lord’s (June 26, 28. 29).—England: 424 and 226 for four wickets declared. New Zealand: 295 and 175 for eight wickets. Match drawn.
At Old Trafford (July 24. 26, 27). England; 358 for nine wickets declared, and 187. New Zealand: 281 and 134. England won by 130 runs.
