Bradford —Matthews

At St.- Saviour’s Church, Kaitaia,- on June 23, the wedding of Miss Anna Muriel Matthews and Mr Herbert Terence Bradford took place. The bride is the daughter of Mrs and the late Mr Herbert B. Matthews, of Kaitaia, and the bridegroom is the-son of Mrs and the late Mr H» Bradford, of Newcastle-ok-Tyne, England.

The Rev. E. Blackwood Moore officiated.

The bride wore a ' gown of deep cream satin, cut on classical lines with a low cowl collar and bishop’s sleeves, the skirt, forming a small train. Over 'this flowed a voluminous veil of embroidered cream silk net, which fell from a head-dress of orange buds ■and silk net yokes. The girdle was of plaited satin, and small satin , buttons y ornamented the back of the dress, from neck to waist-line. : ; A Idtge sheaf of arum lilies was carried bv the bride. ,

Two bridesmaids, Miss Jean Lewis, and Miss Lilian Matthews, sister of the bride, attended her in flesh pink georgette dresses with, yokes and puff sleeves of pink needle-run lace, and Puritan bonnets of fluted pink georgette with velvet rose trimming completed a charming .ensemble, the shower bouquets being of varied flowers in shades of pink. Mr Louis Matthews, uncle of the bride, escorted her up the aisle • and Mr Maurice Close, of Takapuna, Auckland, acted as best man, Mr Gordon Bell, of Kaitaia, being groomsman.

The bride’s mother carried bronze and gold auriculas which toned charmingly with her smartly cut suit of nigger brown cloque with which ..was worn a nigger brown velour hat with .feather mount. The mother of the bridegroom also carried a bouquet of gplden flowers as a foil to her gown'of sapphire blue lace and tucked nihon, with which she wore a musquash coat and sapphire blue velour hat with lighter blue feather, wing mount.

Friends of the happy pair had decorated the church with arum lilies, blue hydrangeas, pink camelias, trails of smilax and fern also being used. i After the service a reception was held in the Masonic hall, where nearly a hundred guests were seated at the tables whose floral decorations of pink begonias carried out the colour scheme of the bridal party.
